        Course instructor  :   Dr. Nisansala Vidanapathirana

        N.P. Vidanapathirana is a Senior Lecturer in University of Colombo Institute for Agro-technology and Rural Sciences Sri Lanka. Since she is joining to the institute in 2007, she is working for implementing and updating of e-learning system for farmers in the purpose of providing knowledge and information exploring higher education opportunities for farmers. She has done her doctoral study based on e-learning adoption for farmers in Sri Lanka with the collaboration with University of Turku, Finland.

          At the end of the course students can be able to : 

          • Identify and differentiate phases of cell division
          • Identify and differentiate DNA and RNA components and structures
          • identify steps involved in recombinant DNA technology, DNA replication and protein synthesis
          • Interacting with Mendels' 1st and 2nd laws
          • Discuss and express about gene interactions and chromosomal aberrations
          • Develop basic criterias regarding the plant breeding
